Baby's Gender: Myths Revealed & a Bump-date!!

17 Weeks

It is almost that time!!! David and I will be going to the Doctor tomorrow morning for our 20 week ultrasound. This is a huge appointment as this is the one that determines if we are having a boy or a girl!!

We, as in David & me, will not find out the sex during the appointment though. We plan on finding out on Saturday evening with our families. We thought it would be more fun to find out the big news in a gender reveal cake at a nice dinner than in the ultrasound appointment at the hospital.

Here is our plan. To keep the gender top secret, we will have the Doctor write the baby's gender on a piece of paper and put it into an envelope. After the appointment, we will drive to the bakery that we chose and give them the top secret envelope. The bakery will then make the perfect gender reveal cake with either a pink (it's a girl!) or a blue (it's a boy) filling. David and I will then pick up the cake on Saturday evening before our gender reveal dinner. Then the magic happens and we will find out what gender this little bundle of joy is! SOOOO excited!!!

In anticipation of Saturday evening, I decided to put together a little list of gender reveal myths. Some will swear you can tell the baby's gender just by looking at these factors. I will let you be the judge.

You are having a boy if....

  • You are carrying low
  • You are carrying out front
  • The hair on your legs is growing faster than usual
  • Your right breast is bigger than your left
  • Your pupils dilate
You are having a girl if...

  • You are carrying high
  • You are carrying all around
  • Your hair is dull and thin
  • Your left breast is bigger than your right
  • Your pupils don't dilate
These myths are not proven scientifically, thus the reason they are myths, but there is definitely a reason they continue to be passed around today.

What do you think Baby Sutton is? Boy or Girl?? Stay tuned to find out!!

  1. Well, you have a perfectly adorable bump and I have a 50/50 chance of getting the gender right so I'll say boy? Can't wait to find out! Love the idea of the family surprise via cake! Hopefully you'll post an update on Twitter or something when you find out! Thanks for linking up to Manic Monday!
